A Paternal Poem


Day in day out for us you’ve toiled,
Every cent you’ve earned on us you poured,
Though you may not know that for you, we are glad.
And this day we are here to say thank you, dad.

One day is not enough
To say sorry
For all the times we disobeyed you

One day is not enough
To apologize
For all the times were rude to you

One day is not enough
To atone
For all the times we lied to you

Oh yes of course we know

One poem is not enough

To make it up
For all the times we disappoint
But now that we’re a little bit wiser,
Though we don’t always remember,
Know in your heart that forever,
We have you to thank for,
for all that we are today.

For you’ve brought us up,
To be men and women of God,
To love, to protect and to fight,
With courage against all odds.

For that we give you thanks,
Happy Father's Day!
